Education Business Unit Manager


£55,000 + Commission.  OTE to £70,000

This is an outstanding opportunity for you, an Education Business Unit Manager to join a leading IT organisation, to lead a team of Account Managers and Support Staff in the Education business unit.   You will be responsible for growing a profitable business unit by:

  • Acquiring new customers in all education sub-sectors with a specific focus on multi-academy trusts (public and non-public funded) and higher education
  • Ensuring services are delivered to the customer in accordance with the terms and conditions of the parent contract
  • Being the customer’s principal point of escalation within the company for education accounts and ensuring service excellence (SLA/KPI’s) is upheld across those accounts
  • Leading tenders relating to education opportunities
  • Ensuring account managers are maximising the potential for growth within their existing accounts by leveraging the Company’s portfolio to meet an existing or emerging business need
  • Ensuring the business unit attains its approved budget
  • Managing the profit and loss for the business unit, including but not limited to; ensuring all service delivery costs are recoverable from the client and as expected at the point of sale- exceptions to this are to be raised to the government business unit manager in advance, providing an accurate monthly forecast of revenue, gross margin, net margin, aged stock, aged debtors and aged RMAs, and understanding and where practical resolving any projected variances
  • Being prepared for an attending weekly management meetings, monthly business reviews and quarterly business reviews, this includes ensuring all required reports are up to date
  • Producing an annual budget forecast for the business unit when tasked with doing so by the government business unit manager


In order to be successful in your application, you should have:


  • Working for an IT company, specifically selling to the education sector.
  • High level of organisational skills
  • Profit and loss management experience
  • Possess the ability to prioritise workload
  • Proficient in the sales order process
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrable experience in acquiring new customers and growing an installed base in the education sector
  • Experiences in winning new business through public sector frameworks
  • Experience with education customers
  • Experience in sales forecasting
  • Identifying and establishing new business opportunities
  • Good communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Competent in MS office suite i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint
