3rd Line Support Engineer
Salary - £35,000 -40,000 + Bonus
This is a fantastic opportunity for you, an experienced 3rd Line Support Engineer to join a leading organisation close to Stansted.
As the 3rd Line Support Engineer, you will be an integral part of a highly motivated IT Support Team and take a senior role which will not only involve working with cutting edge technology, but also to mentor and assist 1st and 2nd Line Support Engineers.
- Handle 3rd Line calls escalated from first/second line IT Call Desk
- Recommend and deliver improved IT infrastructure systems
- Administer backup and disaster recovery systems and processes
- Patching, Maintaining & Troubleshooting IT infrastructure
- Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
- Research, recommend, plan and implement infrastructure system projects
- Upgrade systems with new releases and models
- Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
- Add to internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
- Contribute to overall IT strategy
- Proven experience as a 3rd Line Support Engineer or similar role 2+ years
- Excellent Windows server understanding (2003 – 2016)
- Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Active Directory and Veeam experience is essential
- Extensive experience working with Virtualisation technologies (VMWare and Hyper-V)
- Experience with networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
- Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
- Knowledge of daily maintenance on SQL databases
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
- Excellent communication skills
BSc in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) or considerable experience in this position.
Useful, but not essential skills include:
- Ability to create scripts in Powershell, Python, Perl or other language
- Experience with Draytek & VYOS / Vyatta routers
- Working knowledge of GDPR regulations
- Microsoft Azure experience
- Office 365 enterprise
